My response to your post was neither hostile or snotty. A bit sarcastic perhaps. Why take it personally that I disagree with you?

You stated Jers vocals were the best ever in '78. He was quite sick for a good part of the year, unable to sing for several shows, and others were cancelled for this reason. He may never have sounded worse than some shows in '78, except for maybe '85?

Jer had an amazing interpretive style to his singing, frequently quite emotive. But I dont see how '78 could possibly be considered his finest year vocally with quite a few shows sounding like this one...

I went to the January Sac and Stockton shows. The archives cannot truly replicate the in-person experience of Jerry trying to sing at that time. Though the Stockton show was pretty ok as I recall. How about a compromise? Jerry sang pretty well in 1978. When he could.

Unprovoked sarcasm is both snotty and hostile.I understand that a good part of the year his vocals were horrific, what I was saying was he seemed to be singing differently, and for me I found him to be a more interesting and well rounded singer.I have no problem with anyone disagreeing with me.I've spent 33 years and countless thousands of hours listening to the GD so I certainly don't need you telling me when and how emotive Jerry was.

"I was wondering what other folks thought of his vocal skills"

Why ask for feedback if you are going to attack anyone who disagrees with you?

"I find 78' to be the best year for Jerry's vocals"

I couldnt disagree more, guess that makes me a douchebag.

"snotty and hostile"

hmmm?

Great job with this thread by the way, nice to keep it about the music...
